Qld: Prison guard punched
A prison officer has been taken to hospital after being punched by a prisoner at Woodford
Correctional Centre, north of Brisbane.
A Department of Corrective Services spokesman says the guard had just unlocked the
prisoner's cell at 7.45am (AEST) when he was attacked without warning.
He says the guard was taken to hospital by ambulance with severe swelling of his face
and a suspected fractured jaw.
Another guard was also taken to hospital suffering shock.
The spokesman says the prisoner was quickly restrained by other guards and taken to a cell.
Police and department officials are investigating the attack.
